Avignon Parrot may just be the most riveting of all the tulips. These gigantic plants produce massive flower heads in shades of bright coral, orange, and green. It’s definitely one of the largest tulips I’ve grown, atop stems that grow 16-24 inches tall. I had these planted in a huge drift last year outside my front door, and fielded soooo many questions about them. My photos make them look droopy, but they actually have sturdy stems—I took the pics after two days of unrelenting rain. The ruffled petals make these true showstoppers.
